Mascherano Open Kans Retirement at River Plate

Barcelona - Barcelona is unlikely to be the last club in career Javier Mascherano. Argentina international player was not close the opportunity to end his career at his first club, River Plate.


In that club, Mascherano started his career from the junior team before promotion to the main squad. However, in 2005 he then moved to Brazil with Corinthians before joining the adventure to Europe two years later to strengthen West Ham, Liverpool, and finally Barcelona.

Since landing in Catalan four years ago, Mascherano be one of the pillars of the Barca players and helped his team win two league titles, one Copa del Rey, and the Champions League trophy.

Over a relatively consistent appearance, the owner of 110 caps with the Argentine national team was rewarded with a contract extension that will tie Mascherano Blaugrana until the age of 34 years. After that, Mascherano did not hesitate to return home.

"I would love to retire in River Plate because it would symbolize a complete cycle," said Mascherano told Fox Sports.

"Barcelona is already leaving a legacy (in football) and show the world that you can win a lot of matches to play well," added the man 30 years.
